BirdRunner for iPhone

Consumer health data privacy policy

Updated October 16, 2026

This policy covers consumer health data, as laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's consumer health data law define it. BirdRunner is published under the Thriving Bird name by its independent developer (we, in this policy). Our full privacy policy covers everything else.

What BirdRunner handles, and why

To show your journal, plan, progress, and step goal, and to send notifications you turn on, the BirdRunner app on your iPhone uses: walking and running workouts, distances, routes, heart rate, active calories, running power, workout elevation and weather, and step counts from Apple Health and your iPhone's Motion & Fitness data, if you allow them; activities, effort, notes, and shoes you enter; GPS routes you record; and activity files you import.

Where it comes from

From you, from Apple Health, from your iPhone's sensors, and from GPX or TCX files you choose.

We don't collect it

All of this is processed by the app on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us, so we never receive, store, or see it. The optional weather feature sends only an area rounded to about 5 km (3 miles) to a weather service, with nothing about your health or activities.

Sharing and selling

We don't share or sell consumer health data. With your permission, planned sessions go through Apple's WorkoutKit to your Watch. Save to Apple Health copies an activity's type, date, duration, and distance to Health; Apple's Health and iCloud settings apply there. Later edits or deletion here do not change that copy. Live Activities may also appear on your paired Watch. Cards and journal exports go only where you send them.

Your rights

You can see, export, and delete all of it in the app, in You → Your data (Export everything, or Erase everything), and you can turn off Health access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. Because we hold none of your consumer health data, there is nothing for us to confirm, hand over, delete, or stop sharing, but you can still email us with any request and we'll answer within 45 days. If you disagree with our answer, reply to appeal and we'll respond within 45 days. If you're in Washington and still disagree, you can contact the Washington State Attorney General.
